The work of Coen Vunderink can be seen in the upper room of Pictura:
“I literally build on my old work, which I often use as a background. Every now and then a piece of net curtains can still be seen somewhere, which has been used as a template or has been treated with spray paint. Landscapes have now been painted over it. The landscapes are impressions of good fishing spots where I, as an avid carp angler, like to set course. It turns out to be a nice metaphor for my work. Search, try and wait. But also: catching something and letting it go.”
Work by Geert Maring can be seen in the downstairs rooms of Pictura:
“After 40 years of etching I stopped because the medium was exhausted for me. Then I started painting abstracted landscapes. Since 2019 I have been living in a courtyard in Groningen, which has resulted in significantly less work space. I now work with colored pencil and acrylic paint. I experience this limitation in space and material as a challenge. The landscape element has always been present in my work."
The exhibitions run from October 2 to November 13.
Pictura is open from Wednesday to Sunday from 1 to 5 pm.

Het Kunstlievend Genootschap Pictura in Groningen werd opgericht in 1832 met als doel: 'de beeldende kunst en de nijverheidskunst in de ruimste zin van het woord aan te moedigen en te bevorderen.' Pictura is gehuisvest in een mooi, monumentaal pand aan het Martinikerkhof in Groningen. In de sfeervolle zalen exposeren professionele kunstenaars van uiteenlopende richtingen en disciplines, maar de hoofdmoot is figuratief.
