Art dealer Peter ter Braak is organizing a sales exhibition of the work of C. L. Roxanne Monsanto.

"A painting must be a love affair."

With this mindset, C.L. Roxanne Monsanto (1961) began painting for this exhibition in early March 2025. During a work week on Schiermonnikoog, her "passion for painting" was rekindled after years, in nature, where the landscape and the animals around her became a source of inspiration. Using her mobile phone, she began capturing daily "bliss flashes," to check at a later time whether the love was strong enough to dedicate a canvas, paint, and time to it. Unpredictable and capricious like life itself. That is how Roxanne paints, according to what her work requires. Sometimes precise and restrained because it calls for silence, and other times rough, exuberant, and expressive because noise is sometimes nice. She wants to draw upon the entire spectrum, in paint, charcoal, pencil—small, grand, poetic, raw, and anything else that wants to be felt.

Roxanne studied at the classical academy for painting in Groningen from 2006 to 2010. Until 2020, she primarily created commissioned portraits and was active as a teacher and coach under the name of her company, RoxArt. This exhibition marks the beginning of a new phase in her life as an artist.
