From 1 to 31 August 2022, Pieterke Vank, an artist from Losdorp, will exhibit a drawing on cardboard 'Angel. Wood. Pigeon' in the window gallery 'De Prachtvink' at the Vinkhuizen shopping center, Platinalaan 505a, 9743 GZ Groningen.
Angel. Wood. Dove is a drawing of 30 x 30 cm from 2022 in mixed media on a piece of cardboard box. The image in primitive style shows an angel holding and addressing a (wood) dove. Pieterke Vank thus subtly comments on the war situation in Ukraine. The dove of peace is held by well-meaning words, but cannot fly for lack of deeds.
Vank opts for the quick gesture. Art is a cry, a passionate cry, a fleeting moment on Instagram. In her form of expression she fits in with international artists such as Banksy and other street artists who see the bearers of their images in cardboard boxes, walls and lampposts.
Pieterke Vank (1991) studied at the AKI Enschede and after her wander-years she now lives in Losdorp. Vank explores a mix of graphic novel, collage and cartoon in her expression. Fast lines, felt-tip pen and torn pieces from newspapers and magazines characterize her work. She likes to choose the raw form of postmodern art: post-punk and street art instead of the stylized digital style. Form and message together provide a refreshing originality. Vank's work is included in various private collections. She exhibits on an irregular basis. Illustrations of her hand have appeared in, among others, the magazine KLADBLOK.
The window gallery is an exhibition space that can only be viewed from the outside, but 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The gallery is illuminated until 11 p.m. Each month a new artwork by an artist is showcased. For more information, visit prachtvink.blogspot.nl
