'LASCAUX GOLD OCHRE FIAT 132'

"Lascaux Gold Ocher Fiat 132" is the title of a work by the German painter Andreas Exner (*1962 in Gelsenkirchen, Germany) and his series "Applied Monochrome Painting" that will be on display at OFF HOOK. Andreas also participated in the project 'A6 Murals Worldwide' by Off Hook founder and artist Lydia Wierenga. The book is available at Of Hook.

In search of color Andreas Exner uses everyday objects and seeks a dialogue between painting and sculpture. The artist has developed a body of work that decisively innovates unrepresentative painting, takes it to public space and questions its essence. Possibilities of speed and stillness become as much a means of painting as the creation of interdisciplinary, conceptual and visual references. For the moment of viewing, the experience of everyday life is transcended into the pictorial realm through Exner's painterly "insertions".

The exhibition LASCAUX GOLD OCHRE FIAT 132 features works from Exners' series "Applied Monochrome Painting", in addition to an installation for Off Hook during the opening, as well as some earlier works. Especially for this exhibition, a limited edition of a serigraph by Andreas Exner will be available at Off Hook.

OFF HOOK.

OFF HOOK is an artist run space for contemporary art and exhibitions. It’s located at the corner of a former chemistry laboratory in Groningen, the Netherlands.

OFF HOOK is founded by Dutch artist Lydia Wierenga, with the goal to invite artists to “do what they want”.

OFF HOOK will also present screen-prints in limited editions and “a little something on the side”.
