ANDRE DEKKER: PIED-À-TERRE
About this activity.
FRI OCT 27 - SUN NOV 12
For the next few weeks, Off Hook will be taken over by Andre Dekker. Andre is a Dutch draughtsman, installation artist, writer and guest lecturer who has been part of Observatorium in Rotterdam since 1997. Observatorium is an artist collective specializing in conceptual art, environmental art and architecture. The work can be roughly divided into landscape artworks and architectural artworks that serve as a residence for seclusion.
Examples include 'Observatorium Nieuw Terbregge' on the A20 Rotterdam, 'Warten auf den Fluss' (Essen, 2010-2017), 'Zandwacht' (Maasvlakte 2, 2015) and recently 'Terp fan de Takomst' was realized, a new outer dike mound as a place of experience in Blije, Friesland.
Observatory has published two books: Big Pieces of Time (2010) and Public Art for Public Life (2023).
From Friday, Oct. 27 to Sunday, Nov. 12, Andre Dekker lives and works at Off Hook amid his ink drawings that he has been making since the pandemic. In the morning Andre writes letters, in the afternoon he rearranges the exhibition, and there are two evening programs:
* Saturday, Nov. 4, 8 p.m.: Lecture Observatory and the Terp fan de Takomst
* Saturday, November 11, 8 p.m.: Book presentations
- WESTFRIES KOOKBOEK, a recipe and drawing book in collaboration with brother Thijs Dekker, published by ZAVEL publishers.
- ERRAID SOUND, a drama and drawing book with short film in collaboration with Glasgow theater producer Graham Eatough, published by Jap Sam Books &The Hunterian.

All this in collaboration with Lydia Wierenga, visual artist and founder of OFF HOOK.
