About this activity.

New exhibition in Pictura: Chroma

A special exhibition with lectures, a concert and workshops

What does color do to us? Color grabs our attention, evokes memories and emotions, and can make us look at the world differently. We use colors every day, but rarely consciously think about them. The exhibition Chroma: Color as Research invites you to do just that. At the invitation of Pictura, Gabrielle Kroese served as curator of the project alongside Gert Jan Mulder.

Ten artists investigate what color can mean and how it behaves. Sometimes color is overwhelming and sensory, sometimes subtle and quiet. Color can originate from nature, change through light, speak its own language, or tell us something about the world around us. The relationship between color and sound, as well as the potential influence of color on our well-being, are also explored.

In this way, color becomes more than something you just see. It becomes a way of looking, experiencing, and asking questions. Chroma shows how surprisingly versatile color is and how strongly it is connected to our culture, our environment, and our perception. The exhibition brings visual art, science, and societal questions into contact with one another, offering a space to slow down for a moment in a fast-paced world full of images.

Pictura.
