Gerard de Hoop is a designer based in Groningen, working across furniture, product and spatial design. He studied Architectural Design and Interior Architecture at Minerva Art Academy in Groningen.

His work is characterised by geometric clarity, a strong graphic language and a conceptual approach. Functionality and simplicity form the foundation, often combined with experimentation and a playful spirit.

His designs range from furniture and everyday objects to spatial and architectural projects. Each design starts with a clear idea, with close attention to form, construction, materials and use, rather than a fixed style.

Alongside commissioned projects, De Hoop develops independent concepts that explore new forms, functions and ways of using familiar objects. The interplay between commissioned and independent work is central to his practice.

Several of his designs have entered production and are included in international design collections.
