Harvest festival in Volkshortus Selwerd
About this activity.
Over the past year, flowers, vegetables, fruit and herbs from all over the world have once again flourished in the Volkshortus. The greenhouse has also been a lively place where local residents come together to garden, have a chat, take part in activities, or simply stop by to see what is growing.
On Saturday, 26 September, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, Kunstpunt Groningen and the greenhouse volunteers will celebrate the end of the season together with local residents during a festive afternoon filled with delicious food, workshops and live music. The programme includes Harvest Soup by the VeldCollectief from De Biotoop, fermentation and cider-making workshops, collective weaving on a large loom, local honey from Selwerd, henna art, and live music.
Admission is free. Volkshortus Selwerd is located on the courtyard between Gelderse Roosstraat and Hazelaarstraat. You are warmly welcome to join us.
About Volkshortus Selwerd
Artists Saskia Janssen and George Korsmit conceived Volkshortus as a living portrait of the neighbourhood and its diversity, using plants chosen by local residents.
Volkshortus Selwerd was commissioned by Kunstpunt Groningen in collaboration with the Municipality of Groningen and housing corporation Nijestee.

Kunstpunt Groningen (voorheen CBK) is hét knooppunt voor beeldende kunst. Wij lenen kunstwerken uit, begeleiden kunstopdrachten in de openbare ruimte en bij bedrijven, ontwikkelen educatieprojecten voor scholen en organiseren tentoonstellingen en activiteiten.
Kunstpunt Groningen (formerly CBK) is the hub for visual arts. We lend works of art, supervise art assignments in public spaces and at companies, develop educational projects for schools and organize exhibitions and activities.
