Monks and Tallmen
About this activity.
A journey through silence and experience
Starting October 3rd, the exhibition *Monniken en Langemannen* (Monks and Tallmen—yes, that is the correct spelling) will be on display at Solte Campe, the former primary school in Zoutkamp. It features paintings by Karin Twisk, an artist from Kloosterburen. instagram.com/karin.twisk
Opening:
Saturday, October 3rd, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
De Schuit 11 in Zoutkamp.
Artist Ingeborg van Bleisem of Ibis Ateliers in Alkmaar will open the exhibition.
Viewing Karin Twisk’s paintings is an experience in itself; with the Tibetan monks depicted in meditative poses, the silence is palpable—yet one can also sense the thoughts arising within the monks, such as images of koi carp swimming by.
Her "Langemannen" (Tallmen) series, surrounded by all manner of small figures, is truly surprising. The processions of cheerful, colorful musicians—accompanied by beautifully rendered animals and birds wandering through the cosmos—seem to make the music audible.
Karin paints using oils (sometimes combined with acrylics) in vibrant colors on MDF or raw wood surfaces.
After a stint at art school, she decided that world wasn't for her. From that point on, she developed independently and freely, creating a unique style where color comes to life and the viewer is inevitably enchanted. Viewing each piece feels like a journey through silence and experience.
