Art Tour of the Ebbingekwartier During Open Monument Day 2026
About this activity.
During Open Monument Day, we are organizing a tour of the Ebbingekwartier on Sunday, September 13th, starting at 1:30 p.m.
The Ebbingekwartier is a prime example of resilient heritage. What was once an industrial and commercial area has, over the past few decades, undergone a radical transformation into a vibrant urban neighbourhood. Old structures and memories have not disappeared, but have given way to new uses: homes, restaurants and bars, and workplaces, often combined with the reuse of existing buildings.
During this tour, organised by Kunstpunt, an experienced guide — who has personally been involved in the development and regeneration of various sites — will take you on a journey through time. Through a series of striking locations, you will see how the area has continually reinvented itself and adapted to changing needs.
The tour takes in various old and new buildings and demonstrates how heritage here is not static, but constantly evolving. The visual art in the neighbourhood, such as the winged lions and street art by artists from Groningen, also plays an important role in this: it gives meaning to the place and contributes to the area’s identity and resilience. In this way, you’ll discover how the Ebbingekwartier connects the past, present and future.
đļ Come and join! Book your free ticket now via the Open Monument Day website. This tour is limited to 15 participants.
