Karin van Berne: Moments of Vulnerability and Resilience
Karin van Berne’s work is inspired by the journey of life, with unexpected twists, encounters, feelings, and experiences. In both two- and three-dimensional work, she explores what sets us in motion. Using various materials and techniques, she gives form to moments of growth, wonder, vulnerability, and resilience. Birds regularly recur in her work as symbols of freedom, desire, and the courage to choose new directions. The collection of works she is currently showing forms a colorful and personal exploration of movement: between holding on and letting go, vulnerability and strength, and sometimes between life and death.

Corina Blom: Birds Fly in Atmospheric Spaces
Corina is a visual artist and teacher working from her studio in Gorredijk. She is affiliated with Kunstacademie Friesland. Her practice encompasses painting, printmaking, and mixed media, in which she explores themes such as movement, time, and transience. Her work arises from the observation of landscape, time, and movement. From a background in graphic techniques, a preference developed for a subdued palette of black, white, and gray. In graphic techniques such as mezzotint, drypoint, and linocut, black plays a central role. This led to a visual language in which reduction and concentration are important. In recent work, movement takes center stage, in which birds and atmospheric spaces function as symbols of time and experience.

Johan van der Dong: A movement that prompts reflection
Central to Johan van der Dong's work is the concept in which he asks the public to collaborate on the ideas he has developed with his art form. His new installation will deal with censorship and self-censorship. He will provocatively present a number of dilemmas inspired by President Jefferson of the USA and his question regarding the freedom of his time. Where Jefferson reduced the Bible to about 50 pages, Van der Dong provides it with drawings that make the text and its blurring visible on a large canvas. Marja Hagenauw The Art of Wandering Without a Destination
Marja graduated from the Minerva Academy in 2012. In her work, she explores the interplay between the tangible and the imagination. She embraces the concept of ‘the art of wandering without a destination’. It is during these moments of aimless exploration that she finds her inspiration: in the many buildings, winding alleys, and forgotten corners where numerous stories turn out to be hidden. They are all silent witnesses to the passage of time. Art offers her the opportunity to create complex and surreal worlds. Every drawing is a journey, a way to invite viewers to wander through their own perceptions. With the question: How are we shaped by the environment we inhabit, and where do we leave our traces behind?

Maaike Nijlunsing Rise and Fall in Eternal Motion
Movement is always subtly present in Maaike Nijlunsing’s paintings. The fondness for abandoned, dilapidated places carries with it a sense of the slow movement of the ravages of time. She applies decay in many layers to the canvas. These are ingredients of decay and downfall. Opposite this stands the rise of greenery, of trees, shrubs, and ferns. First as young shoots that shoot up from the cracks and holes in the structure, only to subsequently take over the place and transform it into a forest. Rise and fall alternate in an eternal movement. Especially for this exhibition, Maaike created a triptych about these places.

Henk Puts Moving images, moving steps, and waters

Henk Puts seeks a path through space and time, often hesitant, sometimes resolute. This has resulted in various projects. In various museums, galleries, and in his studio, he captures his moving feet while walking. In Forma Aktua, he incorporates these steps into a video installation. Additionally, he shows the video ‘Floated over the waters’, suggesting a phase of creation. A completely different part of his work consists of circles on various surfaces. He casts circles using mixtures of highly diluted acrylic. Mountains and valleys are formed by the swelling paper fibers. Slowly evaporating, these leave behind patterns that bear a resemblance to the Earth's crust. And the circles? He now breaks them open, making them look more like islands. For these works, he likes to use the term ‘geomorphology’, the science that studies landscape forms and the relief of the Earth's surface.
