Expo 'MIMESIS' in Artcenter K38

About this activity.

On saturday august 1st, opened Arthistorian Peter Kooke, the new and extraordinary solo-exhibition 'MIMESIS' in Artcenter K38.

All the walls and areas are filled with the wonderful works, aquarels and paintings and woodcarvings, from Jan Ernst Douma (80 yr.) from Leek, Groningen.

It shows a selection with 140 works, starting in the 60's, calles 'MIMESIS'. Literally this means 'the making of your perception'.

Douma, as an typical visual thinker, has always been inspired by the actual visual truth, especially his surroundings in landscapes. He likes to draw and  paint particulary 'en plein air' in aquarel.

On the readingtable in the gallery you can find books and other publications, with the works of Douma. Every sunday he will be at the gallery himself. If you would like to come especially for him, or with a group, you can call him for an appointment on his mobile  06-16008007.

Sunday august 9th, at 14.00 hr in K38, will Peter Kooke give a reading about 'En plein-air' technique in art. No need to make a reservation - just show up! Entrance €15,00 incl. the exhibition.

'MIMESIS' can be seen until sunday august 23th 2026.
