Are you between 12 and 18 years old and are you creative and curious, or do you simply enjoy being outdoors? Then this is your chance. On Friday 14, Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 August, from 12 noon to 5.30 pm, we are organising a summer camp at the Onlanden nature reserve as part of the Thuisplaats art project.

Over the course of three days, we’ll be working together under the guidance of two professional artists to create a massive artwork in the Onlanden nature reserve. It will cover almost 1,000 square metres and be created by young people just like you. Join us for one day, two days or all three – it’s up to you. You can sign up with a group of friends if you like.

What will you be doing? You’ll be working with clay, wood, mosaics and other materials. You’ll help build an insect wall, lay out a special path or come up with something completely new. In between, you'll explore the area, climb the observation tower and search for materials and seeds in the natural surroundings. You’ll also get to know new people since we’ll be working together.

We start off each day with a group lunch and some icebreaker games, so that everyone feels right at home. Then we head out into nature to explore, build and create. Are you more into creative work? Or do you prefer hands-on activities like heavy lifting and construction? There’s something for everyone. At the end of the day, we wrap up with a nice meal, such as pizza.

Does it require any experience? No, you don’t need to know anything about art or nature. What matters is that you’re keen to get involved, spend time outdoors and share experiences with others.

Location: The Onlanden car park, Noorddijk 1. Come by bike! The car park is surrounded by nature and is best reached by bike. If you don’t have a bicycle, please ask someone to give you a lift.

About Thuisplaats

Thuisplaats is a project in which young people from diverse backgrounds join forces with artists Koos Buist and Maria Pask to shape a section of the landscape themselves. They are doing this by transforming approximately 850 m² of a car park in the Onlanden water storage and nature area into an ecological work of art. Until the end of 2026, the participants and artists work together to design and build sculptural shelters for insects, among other things.
