This Is Not a Solo
About this activity.
From March 22 until May 3 Kunstievend Genootschap Pictura changes into a memory palace. No solo and not a solo exhibition strictly speaking, but the mise-en-scène of a memory: a scenic exploration through the brain of artist Isabella Werkhoven.
Building on the lyrics she wrote for her monograph A book of paintings (2021) the monumental building of Pictura is used for the total experience and dramaturgy of the memory: rooms as chzapters, corridors as memory lines. That’s how the memory becomes touchable. Through image, sound and space.
Paintings, drawings, movie, animation and a monumental video-installation together form a visual autobiography, drenched with influences and echoes of memories. The pivot is not earlier exhibited work from Werkhoven, from her partner Simeon Nijenhuis and fifteen guest artists that come together in a fluent inner script.
A spatial Gesamtkunstwerk in which art, text, architecture come together and from whom you step outside in a different way than when you entered.
Pictura.
