Ilse Brul
Ilse's paintings originate from her direct experience of the landscape she perceives. The Wadden Sea and Alpine mountains often form the basis of this. She explores the coherence and layering within these landscapes on various levels . Light, color, and rhythm function here as carriers of a larger order in which everything is interconnected. Earthly matter such as silt or snow is allowed to be visible and engages in delicate interactions with the oil paint, egg tempera , or watercolor. As a viewer, you can sense which landscape is depicted. Her work has been shown in various museums and she exhibits regularly. Ilse studied at the Teacher Training College for Drawing in Nijmegen, the Art Academy in Arnhem, and Comparative Art History at the University of Nijmegen. She is a mother, works as a museumeducator at the Groninger Museum, conducts art projects at schools, and gives egg tempera workshops in her studio in Groningen and at other locations in the Netherlands or Belgium.
