A TRANSITIONAL ELEMENT
About this activity.
A TRANSITIONAL ELEMENT
Opening: Friday 27 February, 5 p.m.
In A TRANSITIONAL ELEMENT, Ricarda Hoop (Leipzig, Germany) develops a spatial installation based on a detail in 17th-century Dutch painting: the carpet on the table. In Gabriel Metsu's paintings, these textiles function as transitional zones – not purely decorative or functional, but as elements that structure space, proximity and attention. Ricarda translates this pictorial logic to the exhibition space of OFF HOOK. She draws, searches and shades. Fragmented shapes and drawings placed on the floor enter into dialogue with the architecture of the space and unfold as a spatial constellation rather than a series of separate works. The installation approaches the space as a drawing in itself – limited in means, but complex in its internal relationships.
On the initiative of OFF HOOK, a new screen print by Ricarda Hoop will be presented. It will be printed by Lydia and Ricarda at Zeefdruk Atelier Hogeland in Warffum. In A4 format, the print run is 30.
