Fantasia: Anneke Bloema, Redmer Hoekstra, Ivonne Moorlag
About this activity.
In this new exhibition, we take you into the magical world of FANTASIA, created by our exhibitors,
who each uniquely transform their own experiences into surrealist photography, refined and alienating pen drawings, or imaginative images.
The opening is Sunday, January 18th at 4:00 PM by Jaap van der Veen, biologist.
Anneke Bloema (born 1973) Surrealist Animal Art
Anneke creates surrealist collages featuring animals, using photos (primarily) from her own archive. Anneke has worked as a photographer since 2001. Besides photography, Anneke has always been involved in other creative projects. For example, since 2018, she has been creating narrative collages from her photos. Because this was a good fit, Anneke founded Wondrous Goose in 2020, where these collages found a home. Since then, her work has focused primarily on these surrealist collages. In these surrealist depictions, animals take center stage, but the illustrative and imaginative collages depict human qualities, dreams, wishes, and intentions. The animals often "live" in fairytale landscapes, which Anneke has photographed over the years. Be amazed by the vibrant colors of the art prints! Wondrous Goose has won several international competitions in recent years, including in Paris and Tokyo.
Redmer Hoekstra (1982) Alienation, Fantasy, and Wonder
Redmer graduated from the Zwolle Art Academy in 2009 as a visual artist and illustrator. As a child, he was a daydreamer and had many theories about life and the world. He finds inspiration in philosophizing about reality, the workings of things, and the movement of an animal or object.
His work consists of pen and ink drawings on paper. He works with fineliners. Hatching creates light and spatiality, which brings the drawing to life. He believes it's important to make his drawings as realistic as possible, so the alienation is all the more powerful. This tricks the viewer's mind into seeing what it truly sees only upon second or third glance. For him, this opens up a beautiful opportunity for wonder, one of the most beautiful human qualities. It's a laborious and almost artisanal technique. A drawing typically takes 32 to 40 hours to complete.
Ivonne Moorlag (born 1971) Cheerful and imaginative Artnimals
Ivonne creates sculptures and paintings, often with an animal theme. With her Artnimals, she creates cheerful, imaginative images. She works with acrylic paint or clay combined with recycled materials such as copper wire, lace, clock parts, or mosaic. In 1999, she graduated from the Minerva Art Academy in Groningen, specializing in illustration. In 2003, she completed the "Professional Artist in the Classroom" (BIK) program. In addition to her independent work, Ivonne (art, community art, and makeup) develops and teaches projects and workshops for schools, institutions, companies, and individuals. She also works on commission, in a variety of ways, creating work including animal portraits, ceramic paintings, illustrations, and graphic designs.
