The work of Han Jansen

Kunstcentrum De Ploeg
25 January 2026

About this activity.

Please note: this event is in Dutch!

On Sunday 25 January, we look back on the work of Han Jansen with his son, Koos Jansen. He gives us a brief overview of his father's oeuvre: from the screen prints that earned his father the title “cow painter” to the pointillist landscapes in oil paint. We see Han Jansen as a versatile artist who explored the boundaries of canvas and paint in his work.

After scattering paint powder in a small river during his trip through Australia, a new period began in Han Jansen's work. On the land behind his house near the Paterswoldsemeer, he began to experiment further with pigments in the landscape. From colouring plants, pieces of land and water — Jansen sees the landscape as an infinite canvas. He continues this in his “Wadden Projects”, the slides of which are currently on display in the exhibition The Colours of the Wadden Sea.

Together with Koos, we look back on his father's work through photographs, videos and stories. The focus is on the Marsh and Wadden Projects.

A visit to the exhibition is included in your ticket for the event. You can therefore view the exhibition before or after the event.
