Christiaan Afman (Haren 1970) graduated in the 1990s from the Academy of Fine Arts 'Minerva' in Groningen.

After graduation the focus shifted from drawing to painting. In preparation for painting cityscapes, Afman likes to work on the street. In 2015, the rise of Urban Sketching gave his drawing skills a new boost. Afman likes to draw from observation, with a slight preference for architecture up to the middle of the 20th century.

Afman's work can be seen and purchased regularly at, among others, gallery Ann's art in Groningen, gallery Ruigewaert in Garrelsweer and museum Møhlmann in Appingedam.
