FRAMEWORK @tschumi
14 January - 14 May 2023
From January 14 to May 14, 2023, new work by Jildau Nijboer can be seen in the Tschumipaviljoen (Tschumi Pavilion), entitled FRAMEWORK @tschumi. The focus is on the view of the pavilion by the people who live or work in its immediate vicinity. Nijboer visited all the offices and flats around the Hereplein, and photographed the windows of all these buildings from the inside out. This is how she caught the eyes that are directed to the Tschumi Pavilion every day. She has created an installation for the pavilion in which she has incorporated these images. The work consists of a mix of different materials and media, including large photo prints that divide the space, printing foil on the windows that creates vistas, and sculptural frameworks.
About Jildau Nijboer
Jildau Nijboer (1994) graduated from Academy Minerva in 2018, and obtained her Master's degree cum laude at the Frank Mohr Institute in 2022. Within her artistry she works with a wide variety of methods and expressions. She paints, makes spatial installations and films, and does performances. Her art revolves around different perspectives and looking through a frame: “I find 'looking through' a very interesting form of looking. The contact with a frame makes you aware of a transition, the coloring of the gaze, and also the space that lies between things.” This 'looking through' and the experience of space that accompanies it, fascinates her and plays an important role in her work.
