Riane Pater (1992)

The works that Pater creates are created when he sees something remarkable in everyday life. We live in a world where everything already has a name and meaning. She uses these everyday things and puts them in a different light. They come together in a different perspective after which it tells a different story, in which humor and absurdity are central.

For example, Pater started collecting toilet paper in 2014 because she admired the butterflies on her toilet paper. After years of saving, it became a pile with many different designs from flowers to sheep and from bears to unicorns. This gave rise to the idea of taking the designs as a starting point when creating a work of art; The Toilet paper collection: a collection of rugs made with a Tuffting Gun.

In the works that Pater creates, she does not stick to one medium. On the contrary: she likes to use different mediums, this gives freedom in creating a work of art that can be and/or become anything.
