From clay to glass sculpture

About this activity.

Glass is a fascinating and inspiring material. It can be slippery, hot, rough, sharp, protective and dangerous. But what exactly is so special about glass? What should you consider when making a glass statue compared to a work of wood, ceramics or metal? Jakobine explains it to you in this workshop.

You will first model an object or relief with clay. In a way that resembles bronze casting, you then make a casting mold of plaster that is later filled with glass. You will choose the glass yourself, cut it small and clean it.

After the workshop, the objects are melted and you can pick them up at a later time and edit them if necessary. We are going to work with clear glass, working with colored glass is possible at an additional cost.
