About this artwork.

Lambertus Johannes Hansen (1803 - 1859) was a nineteenth-century painter. He mainly painted interior interiors, with incoming sunlight and doorways. Bible study is one of his paintings in which this can be seen. It depicts the critical study of the Bible and Biblical writings at the time.

Hansen had various exhibitions between 1822 and 1858 and was mainly known in Amsterdam, where he was a member of the Amsterdam Academy in 1833.
