Proef Me (Taste Me)
4 + 5 june 2011
Five thousand thumbs of caramel hang in the Tschumi Pavilion. They are subtly illuminated to create a visually appealing image of transparent thumbs even at night. On 4 June, they will be extended beyond the Pavilion. Then it turns out that you are led in and out again by thumbs of caramel that can be eaten. That they are casts reminiscent of the 'stroopsoldaatjes' ('caramel soldiers') of old. And that they look like resin from a prehistoric tree.
You can enter the Pavilion at the bottom, or on the high side, and leave whilst eating. And then there's just the street again. It was an illusion. A memory.
Outside the Pavilion, "The Silharmonics" are playing, the amateur workshop orchestra that plays improvisations and compositions by Gerard Ammerlaan.
