Kunstlievend Genootschap Pictura
27 February 2022 to 10 April 2022

About this activity.

Soon there will be three new exhibitions at Pictura in Groningen starting.

We can see the retrospective exhibition of Ruud de Rode. In addition, we have an exhibition that is the result of a artistic collaboration between visual artist Annemarie Carpenter and poet Martin Tervoort. Hans van der Veen's Bookboxes can be seen in De Witte Doos.

Ruud de Rode – Getting used to life (from February 26 to April 10)

The retrospective exhibition Getting used to life honors the work of Ruud the Red (1945). A wide selection of paintings, some objects and drawings tries to depict the versatility of this artist. For the Red, painting is a wonderful adventure. A through form of (soil) research. He surprises with almost childlike curiosity about the beauty, humor and banality within the everyday and about the space in which those things take place. Of he then starts painting that same open look- “just at the blow, see what happens”. In that spirit he taught for years at Minerva and the Classical Academy and this is how he still approaches his work and life. Be careful, because literally it never becomes: then the roller brush goes over it rigorously. Pictura invites the visitor to join Ruud de Rode's wonder. In his paintings there is room for suggestion and discovery: for stillness, but also for chuckling at the absurd. It is precisely in this multiplicity that the strength of his work lies: it lets us get used to it to life.

Annemarie Timmer & Martin Tervoort - Wanderlust (from 2 March to April 10, Overdiepzaal and Van Houtenzaal)

Theme for the presentation of Annemarie Timmer and Martin Tervoort is "Dwaalgast", also title of the new poetry collection by Tervoort (pseudonym Yde van Reide). Wandering, not being at home, and very feeling at home is an important theme in his poems. Wanderlust is also a metaphor for a way of life where the unknown attracts, goals are set again and again and are erroneously not achieved. In Timmer's paintings, wandering comes to the fore in landscapes and buildings, but also characterizes the painting process. Search memories, allow imagination, take roads and on it coming back is painting for Annemarie Timmer and the process in language by Martin Tervoort almost identical.

On Saturday 2 April between 3 and 5 pm Martin will be out of his bundle Recital vagrant and play bass clarinet.

Hans van der Veen – The Library (from February 27 to April 10, The white box)

Hans van der Veen makes Bookboxes. Those are books with a second life. Old books are stripped of their contents so that the cover (with the title) remains. Within it he builds a 3D collage. Whoever knows him will don't be surprised that they are sometimes (gay)erotic...

Hans will be present all afternoon on Sunday 27 February for his work and explain the work process while enjoying a glass of wine.

Pictura is gehuisvest in een mooi, monumentaal pand aan het Martinikerkhof in Groningen. In de sfeervolle zalen exposeren professionele kunstenaars van uiteenlopende richtingen en disciplines, maar de hoofdmoot is figuratief.
