“My practice consists of two parts: in my art practice I deal with interactive sculptures and I am also co-founder and organizer of the studio Moshpit of Creation. The latter is important to me because I like to organize and because I think it is important that people work together a lot. In the studio there are many people with many different skills and knowledge who can support or advise each other. This way you can quickly get a lot further than if you were to undertake something like this on your own. One of the frustrations I have is that people generally don't know much about the creative sector and as a result they often don't take our profession seriously enough and we don't get the respect we deserve. That is also one of the reasons why I helped to create this project. Working together in a place like Moshpit or Creation is a good example of what normally happens behind closed doors and what it takes to work in this sector. Our work, like all other sectors, must be respected as a profession. If you look at the amount of time one puts into learning a skill, it's the same in any other profession. You have to be able to do the finances as well, you have to gain material knowledge and mastering and you have to learn to deal with people. The people in the creative sector are working themselves out. It's hard work that you have to do every day.
"I want to connect with people who don't think art is part of their lives." Chiara Tammaro
"My own art practice combines many different aspects of all my activities, but in the end it's all about exploring the senses. I like to let people experience things. It's important to me that as soon as people come into contact with my work, they then really feel like they are interacting. I like to appeal to a wider audience than just the average gallery visitor and that is why I prefer to work in the public space. I try to bridge these two worlds and bring them together within my work I want to connect with people who think that art is not part of their lives and I try to involve these people in my work as much as possible.
"At the moment I am working on a mobile automatic bicycle. I have had a custom cargo bike made and together with Tom Dijkstra I am building a modular automatic device similar to the FEBO automatic. As soon as this is ready, I want to ask the artists in Moshpit of Creation to create a small piece of art that fits in. They get a fee for this, then it's up to them to decide what kind of piece of art they want to make and what price tag they want to put on it. Once their works of art are ready, they are placed in the mobile It's a great way to promote the artists who work in the Moshpit of Creation and to connect with an audience that wouldn't normally go to an art event. all things together that I'm interested in and have been doing for the past four to five years: metalworking, woodworking, learning new skills such as programming and community involvement."
