I was born in Groningen where I, together with three other siblings, was raised by our deaf parents. As a child of deaf parents you are stimulated at an early age to come up with your own solutions, and to pay close attention to your surroundings. Plus you grow up with a wonderful visual and human language.
After secondary school I studied at artacademy Minerva and the Frank Mohr Institute. I experimented with lots of different painting styles, worked with varying themes and learned to look and work past the borders of a painting. At this moment I make a living by painting murals. This started more than 10 years ago in a small room, and has evolved into painting entire staircases and façades.
My work reflects a kind of intimacy. It invites you to go inside, into the silence. A balanced sense of color creates a warm atmosphere, and I love clear shapes. Adding to that I am a good listener and can translate ideas of others into visual solutions. Usually this results into the emerging of just that picture that was vaguely hidden in the skies.
