About this artwork.

 In the residential area of Mikkelhorst, built on and around the site of the former Mikkelhorst farm, you will come across bronze objects seemingly dotted at random. In their everydayness they seem to have been left here carelessly, or simply lost. Artists Gerard Groenewoud and Tilly Buij were inspired by the very old (residential) history of the place. Successive eras have left their marks here, layer by layer. These objects represent the sediment of history: from an ice-age boulder to a recently carelessly discarded milkshake cup. 

Following the trail of the twelve objects you are taken into a story of times past: a glove, lost on the street; a child's toy, forgotten in the excitement of the game; a ball that has been hit into the water; a fallen chair that may have once belonged to the farmer; a discarded petrol can; the bell that, 2000 years ago, was the single prized possession of a shepherd.

Route starts on the corner of Warmoezerij and Bongerd
Under the trees: 1. Boulder with milk carton
Walk in the direction of Jonkerspad by the riverbank: 2. Glove
Go back to the bridge, cross it, turn left on to the grass: 3. Lion stone
In a little square under the bench: 4. Milkshake cup
Go right again at the end: 5. Fallen chair
Leave the square, Oude Borg on the right in the hedge: 6. Rubbish bag
Cross the road (Erfpad) and turn left, in a tree wall: 7. Wagon wheel
Follow the Erfpad, turn right at the corner of Erfpad and Oude Middelhorst: 8. Milk churn
Go between the trees, along the footpath to Oude Middelhorst: 9. Bell beaker
Turn left on De Ree, go left on the corner by the canal: 10. Petrol can
Borgsingel, second path on the right by the little bench: 11. Pad of used paper 
Walk back right, across the bridge to Jonkerspad and turn left towards the side of the ditch: 12. Deflated football
