Terroir

“During a month-long walk I walk across the dike from East to West Groningen. I start in Lauwersoog and finish in Termuntenzijl. During the walk I stay with farmers who farm along the mudflats and they only eat products from the Groningen soil. I think this is important to create awareness about local food, but also to create an understanding for everything that grows around us. The Hogeland, the northernmost part of Groningen, is the ground where her footprints lie and where I grew up.
The walk is a call to recognize how much human actions change a world and it is a challenge to do something about it. What can we buy locally? In the end we will only try to keep what we love; we love only what we understand, and we understand only what we have been taught. The walk is documented through photo and video and my live location is shared while walking. At the end of the project, cooking is done with all the products that have been given by the farmers during the walk. The dinner is for all farmers and the public involved.”

About project 'Lucht'

The corona measures have hit the art sector enormously. Exhibitions and art grants have been canceled or postponed. It is an uncertain time for many artists. With the Lucht project, Kunstpunt Groningen wants to support artists and designers from the municipality of Groningen. 87 Groningen artists have received a stipend with which they have created new work, including Susanne Luurs. With a billboard exhibition from September 27 to October 17, we present all artists spread throughout the city of Groningen. View the work of the other artists here.
