Trade and Industry (Handel en Nijverheid)

About this artwork.
Two sandstone figures close off two vertical columns in the facade of the H.N. Werkmancollege. Mulock Houwer designed the building.
Although it is difficult to see from the street, one figure has a wind instrument in his hand while the other is holding a kind of staff.
The title of the sculpture, Trade and Industry, is undoubtedly a reference to the Higher Trade School that used to be housed in this building. At the top of the facade there was once a relief with a young man and woman on either side of the coat of arms of Groningen.
Location.
Nieuwe Sint Jansstraat 11
