About this artwork.
The building with Art Nouveau features at 76 Oude Ebbingstraat dates from 1904 and is a former clothing store. Two striking wooden heads can be seen on top of the pilasters. The creator is unknown.
In Groningen, old tableau's can still be found in many places in the old city centre. In the past, facade images were in fact a decorative form of indicating the address and also an early form of advertising. The representations, often provided with a short inscription, referred literally or symbolically to the name of the occupant or the craft practised inside the building.
