Untitled

Hans Ittmann

About this artwork.

This sculpture consists of five vertical posts that pierce two saucer shapes. The convex sides of the hollow saucers face each other. Water sprays up through the posts. The sculpture features organic shapes and is reminiscent of plants or fungi.

The sculpture, made by Hans Ittman from Amsterdam, is 4.5 metres tall and stands in the circular pond in front of the auditorium at the Selwerderhof cemetery.

Selwerd cemetery was created between 1939 and 1949 and was modelled after a design by the landscape architect L.W. Copijn and J. Vroom Jr. The two auditoriums, dating from 1949-1951 and 1963-1964 respectively, were designed by the architect of municipal works at the time, J.H.M. Wilhelm. The entire complex is now a municipal monument.

Location.

Iepenlaan 204 (Begraafplaats Selwerderhof, voor de aula)
