Untitled (Pyramid object)
Cees Sillen
About this artwork.
On a part of a circular bed of pebbles stand six pyramid objects made of Corten steel in a continuous formation. Cees Sillen often uses different materials in his work, with which he gives shape to the cyclical nature of life and death. In many cultures, a circle refers to the cycle of growth, flowering and decay, and also gives this sculpture this symbolism.
The artist made the sculpture for the second sculpture route in Diepenheim. Since 1997, the work of art has been located in the Appelhof, an old orchard that belonged to a farm that has since disappeared. The statue comes into its own on this quiet spot in the crowded district of Beijum, according to the artist.
