Jan van IJzendoorn

About this artwork.

In and near the sports hall on the Amkemaheerd in Beijum is a sculpture by Jan van IJzendoorn. The work of art, made in 1982, consists of two parts. One part concerns the inner sculpture: a triangle with two long sides and one short side. The other part is the outer sculpture, which consists of three sides that do not differ much in size. Both sculptures are made of granite and have a polished side and a rough, unprocessed side. What is more striking is the shape inside the triangle which is reminiscent of a staircase.

Jan van IJzendoorn studied at the Arnhem art academy from 1970 to 1975. He creates installations, sculptures and environmental art.
