About this artwork.
On the grave of M.H. Lutter (1887-1958), there is a bronze statue of a man and a boy in a Gothic church window. The man carefully puts a robe around the shoulders of the tired-looking boy.
The funeral monument at Esserveld Cemetery was made in 1968 by Gerrit Piek. The caption reads: “many a need was his concern”. M.H. Lutter, bookkeeper and later merchant in Groningen, was active in the field of housing for the elderly and is the namesake of the Menno Lutterhuis (1962) on the Paterswoldseweg.
