Koos Buist

Koos Buist (1984) is a visual artist.

Grassland

“My plan is to return one meadow, one hectare, one small piece of Europe’s oldest culture, landscapes to nature on my native land. Or, insofar as something is at all possible from human action, to make an artistic attempt at. Documenting and processing this entire process into a project where art, nature, archaeology, ecology and philosophy come together. This project will take place over a period of many, possibly decades, years. But everything starts with the first step. Air’s support is now helping me with that.
The piece of grassland at the foot of the mound in Ezinge belongs to my mother. After being used by sheep for a long time and for spreading farmyard manure, there is now room for change. The first step in my process starts with preliminary research into biodiversity, sketch designs and test setups in the grassland itself. Through discussions with ecologists, landscape designers and other parties with expertise, I will map out what is possible.”

About project 'Lucht'

The corona measures have hit the art sector enormously. Exhibitions and art grants have been canceled or postponed. It is an uncertain time for many artists. With the Lucht project, Kunstpunt Groningen wants to support artists and designers from the municipality of Groningen. 87 Groningen artists have received a stipend with which they have created new work, including Koos Buist. With a billboard exhibition from September 27 to October 17, we present all artists spread throughout the city of Groningen. View the work of the other artists here.
