Freedom Now - Strong Women (Vrijheid Nu - Sterke Vrouwen)
About this activity.
During the Open Studio Route Noordenveld, the Kunstencentrum K38 Art Centre will also be open to the public. There you can visit the exhibition 'Vrijheid Nu - Sterke Vrouwen' (Freedom Now – Strong Women).
This exhibition is a collaboration with the Stichting Herdenken Noordenveld.
"Sonja Leutholff has a special connection to Anda Kerkhoven, a largely forgotten female resistance fighter from World War II. She studied medicine in Groningen, was a pacifist, and was arrested near the end of the war and executed in Glimmen."
This story, along with the fact that the role of women in the resistance has often been overlooked, inspired the creation of an exhibition that highlights women’s fight for freedom.
'Freedom Now - Strong Women' covers history, and the kinds of "freedoms" that have been and are still considered important or necessary. These can differ greatly—not just over time, but also depending on one's place in the world.
The opening of this exhibition will take place on May 9 at 20:00 PM at
Kunstencentrum K38, Kanaalstraat 38, 9301 LT Roden.

The Open Studio Route Noordenveld can be visited through out Noordenveld on May 10th and 11th.

On Sunday, May 18 from 14:00–16:00 PM, a free workshop by Ida van der Lee will be held at Kunstencentrum K38.

The workshop offers participants the opportunity to commemorate the Jewish residents who were deported from the municipality of Noordenveld. Participants will create a nameplate and write a short text for or about the victim.
