'Forget my name'
Judith Lechner and Boris Wanders are guests in Atelier Henk Kraayenzank
For more than ten years, Henk Kraayenzank has been inviting fellow artists to create a joint exhibition in his studio. This time a duo: Judith Lechner (photography) and Boris Wanders (poems). Boris Wanders (1955) and Judith Lechner (1961) are partners. They walk a path in life together and they work together in various projects. Boris has a background as a teacher of Dutch and a poet. Judith used to study theater and will graduate from the two-year photography course at De Fotolocation in March of this year. Publishing artistic work has not been in the foreground for a long time. Now they present a project in which photography and poems go hand in hand.
Judith Lechner and Boris Wanders studied in a Buddhist tradition for over 10 years. An important aspect for them was Dharma Art: the art that arises from egolessness, Buddha nature and open space. It is a training in receptivity and learning to work in connection with the here and now. This has fundamentally influenced their attitude as an artist.
Romantic painting was the starting point for the project “Forget my name”. A study of colours, the experience of nature and the spiritual desire of the artists in the early 19th century is related to the quest of Lechner and Wanders. Judith Lechner made a series of nature photos. Boris Wanders allows an inner voice to speak in poetry. In “Forget my name” they look for the place where life becomes quieter and slower, where there is room for mourning and reconciliation with the dark sides of life. It is comfort to the soul.
The exhibition is accompanied by a booklet containing a wider selection of photos and poems.
