During her residency at het resort, Yemo Park (@yemo) explored distillation, focusing on Jenever. For this studium resort session, she’ll demonstrate a live distillation using fermented, chewed bread collected during the May 3rd opening at De Souffleur.
While the mash heats, Yemo shares her research through drawings and stories. As alcohol begins to flow, she explains each distillation phase—from toxic methanol to the fragrant ‘head’—and invites open conversation about alcohol and drinking culture.
The distilled ‘head’ will be transformed into a spiced jenever. The final spirit will be spiced and served on June 7 at Souffleur.

Yemo Park explores how artists build autonomy and examines their role within social contexts. Her practice involves developing economic systems that exist between the art market and relevant industries. Projects include: Dogs Die, Love Doesn’t – memorial sculptures for deceased dogs, Gentle Bite, Long-Lasting Pain – portable self-defense tools for vulnerable individuals, Deep Pleasure Pool Club – an artist-led pool design cooperative, Pro-Teapot – a start-up addressing invisible labor through the design of teapots and Grand Tool Supply—a series of sculptural tools for working grandmothers.
Yemo studied Sculpture at the Academy of Antwerp and Videography at École de Recherche Graphique in Brussels. Her work has been shown in institutions including Frans Masereel Centrum, Lichtekooi, 1zwei3 (Vienna), Publiekpark, and Pilar. She lives and works in Brussels.
In 2023, she was in residence at Morpho, and from March–April 2025 at Het Resort in Groningen. She received development grants from the Flemish Department of Culture, Youth & Media in 2022 and 2024.

Het resort onderzoekt de gedraging van een kunstinitiatief en zoekt naar nieuwe wegen, bevraagd de oude en doet suggesties. Ze test hoe de kunsten zich staande houden in omgevingen waar deze (nog) geen vaste positie heeft en kiest zowel de monumentale architectuur als de rafelranden waarin de (eerdere) functie van de omgeving een belangrijke rol speelt. Het resort zoekt naar de wildcards: ongebruikelijke combinaties van kunstenaars en omgevingen waarbij de uitkomsten onzeker zijn. Met haar episodes wil het resort een ontsnapping bieden uit het dagelijkse bestaan en vertelt ze het verhaal van kunst, misvatting, voorspoed, ambiance en champagne.
