From 1 to 30 September 2023, Giovanni Donaudi, artist from Italy, will exhibit a mail art work 'Infusi dal Mondo 'Camomilla' in window gallery 'De Prachtvink' at shopping center Vinkhuizen, Platinalaan 505a, 9743 GZ Groningen.

'Infusi dal Mondo 'Camomilla' is a mail art work of 21 x 29.7 cm from 2023. Donaudi edited an erotic photo of a lady with markers and pasted it on an 80 grams white A4. In addition, he pasted a plastic tea bag made of organic chamomile tea. He built the composition into a whole by means of stamps in black-purple ink. With this work, Donaudi deliberately sits on the border of what is still appropriate today. Can the woman, who for centuries was the favorite subject in the visual arts, still be depicted in this way? He makes the photo innocent by using felt-tip pen, a caricature that he tongue-in-cheek dubs 'Camomilla'.

Giovanni Donaudi is a mail artist from Imperia, Italy who has been active in the international mail art world for years now. In his entries he likes to opt for collage and simple photo editing, making the visual material that viewers are presented with on a daily basis grotesque and unattractive. Through the careless use of stamps, ignoring conventions such as the sectio aurea or balance and raw handwritten text, he likes to emphasize the special lack of aesthetics.

The window gallery is an exhibition space that can only be viewed from the outside, but 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The gallery is illuminated until 11:00 PM.
