The Drawing Box

About this activity.

In the month of decemver there will be a special event in the Studio of Wilma Vissers in Groningen. The Drawing Box is an international initiative of independent artists, started by Diane Henshaw from Northern Ireland. The Drawing Box is a box filled with 5 A5 drawings by 70 artists traveling the world who travel from exhibition to exhibition all over the world. The idea is the artists that made the drawings cannot travel the world because of Covid, but the box of drawings can. The initiative is coordinated from a Facebook group where we share ideas with each other.

The Drawing Box has an international character and is constantly renewing because new members are added. A series of exhibitions is planned that will take place in different locations and spaces. The members of The Drawing Box who want this will receive the box to make an exhibition with it in a place that is suitable for this. Last year it went from Ireland to Cyprus to New mexico and Greece to arrive at the Studio of Wilma Vissers in Groningen. After this it will travel to Scotland, Lithuania, India to end in Australia. The Drawing Box gives artists acces to an international stage, even if they cannot go there themselves. This has a positive effect on esthablishing contacts with colleagues and interested public.

The exhibition of A5 drawings that travel the world in a box can be seen on appointment on 17,18,19, 27, 28, 29, 30 and 31 december from 13.00-17.00 hours at the Sint Walburgstraat 24 in Groningen.
