'Dasein und Ich.' CAMPIS brings Guus Slauerhoff into the Slangentoren
About this activity.
Violence and war are confrontational. How do we humans relate to the complex emotions that violence and war evoke? And what role can visual arts play in this? In Dasein und Ich. visual artist Guus Slauerhoff examines the questions raised by the ongoing war in Ukraine. Visual arts contribute to realizing the impact of this violence. To continue to see it and stay in touch with it, without falling into indifference. In addition to reflection on war and violence, Slauerhoff brings with his installation Dasein und Ich. a tribute to the people of Ukraine.
Guus Slauerhoff
Visual artist Slauerhoff focuses on existence. He wants to reflect the depth and intensity of his experience in his work. He experiences life as confrontational and complex, consisting of layers and contradictions. There are resistances, complications, conflicts, displacement. There is longing and there is pain. Life as such is always in relation to its finitude. It is the path of transience.
All this is not usually considered part of 'the good life', but Slauerhoff considers it an inseparable part of it. He also sees the beauty in it. His images are about this and through his images he feels understood. Slauerhoff expresses himself in his images. His images, that's him.
