Old Paddenpoel (Oud Paddenpoel)

About this artwork.

Old Paddenpoel is the third in a series of four works of art that form part of a project entitled Universe, instigated by the Paddepoel Art Committee. Groningen-based artists Angelique Boter, Gea Koopman and Yvonne Moorlag realised four works of art on the theme of the universe, based on the ideas of and with the cooperation of local residents. It’s quite a logical theme for Paddepoel because all of the streets in this district are named after the planets and the galaxy.

The wall mural on the apartments on Zonnelaan (Sun Lane) consists of six painted panels that refer to the history of Groningen, specifically the Paddepoel district."
