Maar afijn

“My grandmother was born in 1924 in Meulenvliet, a small hamlet on the island of Tholen in Zeeland with only twenty inhabitants. At the age of 19 she and the whole family Mosselman ended up in ‘t Zandt during the Second World War because of the evacuation. and inundation of the island of Tholen After the war everyone went back except my grandmother, who stayed It was the love for a farmhand that drove her, but what else?
What is the connection between Tholen – which was badly hit during the flood disaster in 1953 – with the small village in the far north that is now the epicenter of the earthquakes?
The father of the Delta Plan, Johan van Veen, was born just a stone’s throw from ‘t Zandt, in the village of Uithuizermeeden. His statue stands on the square named after him in the middle of the village. And precisely in this village I was born, the granddaughter of Maatje Anthonia Mosselman. All her footprints have been almost erased, even here. From Tholen to ‘t Zandt – both protected by dikes, but subject to natural disasters. Does history repeat itself or do memories seem to have the power to change the past? I am researching the above data. The personal story that ensues from this serves both as a metaphor for the ‘circle of life’, but also as a connecting element between the two areas. Maar afijn (But anyway) will be a short film production that is built entirely from archive material.”

About project 'Lucht'

The corona measures have hit the art sector enormously. Exhibitions and art grants have been canceled or postponed. It is an uncertain time for many artists. With the Lucht project, Kunstpunt Groningen wants to support artists and designers from the municipality of Groningen. 87 Groningen artists have received a stipend with which they have created new work, including Regina Broersma. With a billboard exhibition from September 27 to October 17, we present all artists spread throughout the city of Groningen. View the work of the other artists here.
