When a child is born into being

“When a child is born into being is a work based on continuous research. The work raises questions about notions of the very beginning in an attempt to understand what can be considered the first emergence. In this case, the birth of a child is viewed through the metaphysical lens of recognizing the space in which it is conditionally placed. When a child is born, recurring patterns continue to appear at different stages of life. Our mother’s womb is the first inhabited place that we conditionally occupy for a period of time. Then there’s the first house we inhabit when we grow up. Later a conscious choice to move to another location. Perhaps a decision to stay rooted in the first inhabited place. The final work will be realized in a multidimensional installation where a viewer is invited to reflect on their first beginnings.”

About project 'Lucht'

The corona measures have hit the art sector enormously. Exhibitions and art grants have been canceled or postponed. It is an uncertain time for many artists. With the Lucht project, Kunstpunt Groningen wants to support artists and designers from the municipality of Groningen. 87 Groningen artists have received a stipend with which they have created new work, including Klaudija Ylaite.
