NonFiction Photo Festival 2022

Synagoge Groningen
11 November 2022 to 4 December 2022

About this activity.

NonFiction Photo Festival is back in Groningen this year! Local photographers represent the story of Future Food in the North, while the internationally acclaimed World Press Photo Exhibition 2022 takes a closer look at the rest of the world.

Future Food

This photo exhibition focuses on the future of food. How can food innovation and the way we handle food production and consumption add to the global crises of sustainability? Future Food addresses the important role of food in finding solutions to current issues. The exhibition includes works from local photographers Arjen Verschoor and Caroline Penris.

World Press Photo Exhibition 2022

The World Press Photo Contest calls for the best visual stories of the year: the stories that need to be told. Photographs from all around the globe address indigeneous identity, climate change, civil uprising and other intriguing current issues. Come and view the winning photographs that visualize the state of the world.

The winner of the ‘World Press Photo of the Year’ is Amber Bracken from Canada with the photo ‘Kamloops Residential School’. Red dresses hung on crosses along a roadside commemorate children who died at the Kamloops Indian Residential School, an institution created to assimilate Indigenous children, following the detection of as many as 215 unmarked graves, Kamloops, British Columbia, 19 June 2021.
