INTIMACY

About this activity.

The Galerie Lichtzone discussion group is a group of photographers from and around the gallery. They meet monthly for an evening to discuss the photos they bring and photography in general. Once a year, the group exhibits photos related to a theme in the gallery for a month. This time, the group hasn’t exactly taken the theme of intimacy for granted.
Intimacy has many facets. Over time and after many conversations, an inventory of related concepts emerged through association—a list that is certainly not exhaustive: tender, close, secure, care, sexuality, bodily fluids, safety, vulnerability. The list could go on for ages. We shouldn’t forget the banal use of the word “intimate” in old personal ads, with all its attendant unpleasant connotations.
Naturally, intimacy often involves contact, connection, and interaction between people. But you can also experience intimacy alone, especially alone, in a place at home or in the garden, or—more spiritually—in a distant but familiar landscape.
Whether a photo fits the theme of intimacy is, in principle, solely determined by the creator of the image. If they believe they have captured their associations with intimacy photographically, then that image is an expression of their feelings about intimacy. The group generally agreed that the image should then speak for itself.
In this exhibition, the members of the discussion group demonstrate how they have given shape to the abstract concept of intimacy through photography.
It is up to the viewer of the image to be convinced or carried away by the photographer’s visual language.

Galerie Lichtzone.

Galerie Lichtzone biedt een podium aan veel verschillende fotografen. Ongeacht stroming, stijl of onderwerpkeuze biedt de galerie fotografen de gelegenheid fotowerk te exposeren. Daardoor is het aanbod verrassend gevarieerd. Elke maand is er bij Fotogalerie Lichtzone weer een nieuwe foto-expositie te bekijken.
