Irene van de Mheen is a guest artist at the Bierumer School and presents part of her work on the windows of the former school building, which is lit up at night until 10 p.m.

In her work, Irene explores the desire for space within the possibilities of drawing, playfully transcending the boundaries of paper. Her work is emphatically visual: from shape, color and material, the drawings of spatial, tranquil constructions arise in which coincidence and imperfection play an important role. The format varies from intimate work on paper to monumental, site-specific installations in which the playful and intuitive character of the smaller drawings is preserved as much as possible.

For the Bierumer school she makes a large window and floor drawing of colored adhesive foil. A drawing that develops in the course of her working period in the Bierumer School and, as it were, moves forward in space. She is fascinated by temporary interventions that transform a space, where architectural elements become part of the work.

The site-specific artwork can be seen from the street and illuminated at night until 22:00. During the opening hours of the Bierumer School, every Saturday and Sunday from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, the installation with slide projectors can also be seen in the school attic.
